Common Eye Problems

There are many issues one can face when looking into eye health.  Here we will look at the most common issues and how to treat them.

Myopia

The most common eye problem facing the general population is Myopia, otherwise known as Short-Sightedness.  This causes distant objects to appear blurred. Someone with myopia can achieve good vision with prescription glasses, contact lenses or laser surgery. Short-sightedness usually first appears in childhood.

 Hyperopia or Hypermetropia.

This is the condition more commonly called Long-Sightedness. This is a condition that can be hard to detect. It makes close objects appear blurry, or you might be able to focus clearly but get tired eyes or headaches. For people with significant long-sightedness, vision can be blurry for things in the distance as well.

In age-related long-sightedness, the lenses in your eyes become less elastic. This slowly decreases the ability of your eyes to focus on things close by, such as a book or text on a phone screen. Age-related long-sightedness is called presbyopia.
